IREO`s SECRETARY‐GENERAL MR. ROBSON MELLO AND THE GOVERNOR OF
THE PROVINCE OF PARÁ, BRAZIL THE HONORABLE MRS. ANA JULIA AGREES
TO HOLD IREO’s Green 2.0 Initiative
(IREO 23rd of April 2010, New York) - IREO aims to meet the environmental challenges posed by the development of human civilization by implementing pilot projects to educate and promote the use of renewable energies around the world. IREO’s vision is to build long-term partnerships andsupport with communities, governments, the United Nations Agencies, the private sector, NGOs,IGOs, academia and think tanks in order to bring sustainability to communities while creatinga better and cleaner world.
In keeping up with its Mandate above IREO`s Secretary-General Mr. Robson Mello metthe Honorable Mrs. Ana Julia Governor of the province of Pará, Brazil in its CapitalCity of Belem. The Governor agreed and is committed to host IREO`s Green 2.0 Initiative from July 22-23, 2011.
The Green2.0 Movement has two main focuses:
1. Bring together all of the countries that share in the Amazon (Brazil, Bolivia, Peru,Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, and Suriname, as well as French Guiana)and working together to build awareness to the people around the world about the problems in the Amazon, and why we need to seek solutions to resolve them. Through a major concertand celebrities we will be able to accomplish that, and provide everyone with an opportunityto participate in the movement ofa sustainable campaign. 2. The implementation of sustainable programs will bring awareness to the local communitiesto be part of our campaign for the reforestation of the Amazon. We will organize a cooperative which will implement a green house to grow the seeds and to deliver the plants (Palm trees) tothe local farmers that are part of our cooperative project. The local farmer will also benefit fromthis program as we will be able to provide him and his family the basic supply of food, water and other necessities that may come about for the next 3 years, in order for them to plant the treesand to maintain the same until the trees become mature. From day one, we will work through anIREO cooperative to supply all of his needs and after the 3 year period when the trees becomemature and begin to produce the coconut shells we will be able to produce the palm oil for variouspurposes. All of the benefits from the profits will go back to the cooperatives to be shared with everyone that is a part of the project. We will also create a control/sustainable reforestation with the Palm trees in order not to have major implications with the main forest. The concept is to have the local underprivledged communities stop with the deforestation and begin working with the reforestation in specific areas of the Amazon.
Every donor will need to be responsible for their tree for three years (until the tree reaches maturity). Though Google, with their satellites, the donor will be able to locate the tree that was donated by accessing (using a code) and a banner will pop up showing the location of the tree with the donors name.
